In January 2024, In-Cumbria magazine published an article exploring the most impactful technological innovations of 2024, with some featured local experts from different industries. One of these experts was FlexMR's CEO, Paul Hudson, who talked about the impacts of adopting generative AI-based tools, such as FlexMR's own TextMR.
Giles Brown, the author of this In-Cumbria Magazine article, poses the question: what are the key developments going to be for business in the coming year?
Paul talks about how "the next 12 months will be characterised by a serious integration of generative AI into core business processes", citing that it is "McKinsey’s estimate that 50 per cent of customer journeys will involve at least one AI touchpoint by the middle of the decade." In the insights industry, Paul mentions observing many companies experiment with various forms of artificial intelligence, but especially generative AI.
Paul concludes his contribution by expanding on how AI will influence other parts of the business too, saying that "as AI-assisted tasks mature over 2024, we’re also likely to see a sharp rise in low-or-no code development, along with a further boom in creative audio-visual media. Accompanying these are equally important evolutions in cyber-security, IP asset tracking and online transparency tools."
Other contributions from Josh Holmes, Head of Digital at LOCALiQ, Dr Mark Dawson from Lancaster University Management School, and Tony Preedy at Fruugo all agree that the use of artificial intelligence will be the main technological adoption for businesses in 2024.
