The flexible co-working space at the heart of Lancaster city centre will serve as a regular base for the growing, remote team.
For Immediate Release: 17th March 2022, London UK.
As a fast-growing technology company, FlexMR has joined the newly developed digital hub – Fraser House – in the heart of Lancaster City Centre. The flexible, co-working base will serve as a regular meeting space for the firm’s remote development team. Located a short distance from the FlexMR head office in Cumbria, this represents an important step in our continued growth, connection with a thriving digital economy and support of local technology-focused initiatives.
This announcement follows a recent expansion of the FlexMR development team and will support efforts to build a strong identity both locally and internationally. Fraser House acts not just as a physical space, but as a rounded, digital community. Supported by Lancashire County Council, the ethos behind the hub is to facilitate a supportive, collaborative approach to working where individuals and businesses can engage and learn from one another. This comes together to create a productive, creative setting that all members can benefit from.
Albert Van Jaarsveld, Head of Development at FlexMR, said, “Having a fully remote development team, face to face time is rare and valuable. The office space in Lancaster’s Fraser House facilitates crucial meet-ups that help with team building, brainstorming, team synchronising and road mapping exercises that are instantly more engaging when done face to face rather than over a screen. It’s great to have this space available for use when needed, as these meet-ups also enrich the social aspects of our work.”
As the FlexMR team have adopted a hybrid working model, the company has placed great emphasis on evolving our strong sense of togetherness and culture. Whilst continuing to expand, FlexMR seeks to retain the cultural strengths that have previously led it to be nominated as a WiRE Best Place to Work and Best Cumbrian SME. Regular team meetups will be supported by a programme of company-wide events, including annual strategy and innovation days, to promote cross-team working and collaborative working.
Annette Smith, Technology Manager at FlexMR, commented, “The FlexMR development team is made up of a team of really talented, dedicated developers (and an ex-researcher Product Owner) who have a wide range of experience across various technologies. Moreover, we love taking on new challenges and problem-solving in creative ways to bring unique new features like the in-builder Montage Editor in VideoMR and the flowchart-inspired Survey Builder canvas in SurveyMR 2.0. That willingness to embrace the new has also been helping us to move to a full scrum team approach this year, which will be better developed in our new office space.”
Fraser House is a sympathetic yet striking £1.6 million conversions of one of the historic mills at White Cross in the city of Lancaster. Including clever spatial design, cutting edge technology and full-fibre broadband, it provides a centric base for SMEs and ambitious entrepreneurs to grow and thrive in a collaborative, supportive and inclusive community. Fraser House Hub is financed by Lancashire County Developments Limited and delivered by Lancashire County Council.
