FlexMR Lune Estuary Litter Pick for St John’s Hospice

As a part of the firm's annual Community Day, FlexMR will take part in a litter pick along the five mile Lune Estuary footpath to raise money for St John’s Hospice.

Last year, the FlexMR team took up the challenge of the Cross Bay Walk - a historic hiking route that crosses Morecambe Bay in Northwest England. This year, we're cleaning it! Well, not the whole bay. On June 23, the team will be heading out to the 5 mile Lune Estuary footpath that stretches from Lancaster to Glasson Dock with trash grabbers and bags  in hand. Our goal is to keep this beloved local route pristine, and raise money for an important cause along the way.

This sponsored litter pick will also support St John's Hospice, a charity that provides palliative care for the community of North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire. Services include an inpatient ward for end-of-life care as well as pain and symptom management, a Hospice at Home service for people who choose to spend their last time at home, Clinical Nurse Specialists who support people with planning and pain & symptom management, and a Respite Service for carers of loved ones who need rest, day or night. St John's also offers pre and post bereavement support plus other services you may not associate with a Hospice such as Social Workers and Therapists.

All that care, compassion and support is offered free of charge to patients, their families and carers. To deliver such an important service, however, is not cost free - with around a quarter of funding received from the government and the remaining amount raised by the local community.This is an important pillar of the North West community which has touched countless lives over the years - and continues to be a leading light for many in difficult times.

The government funding they receive only covers around a third of their running costs, with two-thirds of their running costs derived from fundraising efforts, community donations, legacy gifts and more. That is why we have chosen to raise money for St John’s Hospice this Community Day, and we hope you will support us too.”
