On March 24th 2020 at 17:00 GMT, FlexMR CEO Paul Hudson hosted a webinar as part of the Qual360 Online Expo on how to manage multiple research communities. While the benefits of doing so are clear; a greater and more well-rounded view of important consumer groups, the practicalities of research and community management are often considered complex. During the course of this 30-minute webinar, Paul shared practical advice and steps on how to reduce complexity and turn the dream of multiple, specialised insight communities into reality.
Online insight communities are typically used to generate in-depth qualitative data in an engaged, peer-to-peer forum. While a broad, customer community is the most common approach – it can be a significant benefit to complement this with smaller advocate or staff communities. Alternatively, wider consumer communities can provide a useful, relevant comparison.
Simple steps to manage complexity
To effectively manage multiple qualitative communities, a powerful and flexible platform is required. In this webinar, Paul demonstrated how the project based structure of InsightHub can be used to create multiple community spaces and discuss the different ways these can interact with members.
In some situations, it may be best customers to be part of a wider consumer community and have access to a dedicated customer space. In other scenarios, it may be important to keep these groups separate. Importantly, it is down to the individual research and business requirements to dictate how best to make the most out of multiple qualitative spaces. However, throughout this webinar, we shared some of the key questions to ask that will help you determine what kind of structure is best for you.
Additionally, Paul covered a range of practical advice that looks not only at how to structure both the administrative and member facing front-end, but also topics such as communication, engagement and database cleaning. He walked through how to make decisions on each of these areas and ensure a thriving home for your online qual.
