FlexMR Shortlisted for Best SME in Cumbria Business Award
We are excited to announce that FlexMR has been nominated and shortlisted for in-Cumbria Magazine’s ‘Best SME in Cumbria’ Business Award! The awards evening, hosted this year by Channel 4’s Cathy Newman, will be held at the Halston Hotel in Carlisle on 14th November, where the winners for each award category will be announced.
A record number of entries were made this year into the 17 categories in which a business can be nominated for, including Best Innovation, Best New Business, and Flying the Flag for Cumbria. A large panel of expert judges, which include Henri Murison (Director of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership), Barry Leahey, MBE (Managing Director of Playdale Playgrounds), Claire Benson (Marketing Manager of Inspira), and representatives from Newsquest Cumbria, have each been assigned a category and will visit all of the three finalists within their category in July and August to judge the winner.
Best SME in Cumbria Award and Judges
FlexMR has been shortlisted alongside two other candidates for the Best SME in Cumbria award: More Handles (an architectural ironmongery specialist) based in Carlisle, and Taylor and Braithwaite (a construction business who specialise in supplying and servicing construction, recycling, and agricultural equipment) in Appleby.
The ‘Best SME in Cumbria’ award recognises the winning SME business which will demonstrate strong leadership and vision, good sales growth, and sound financial performance in order to secure their win.
The judge responsible for “grill[ing]” the Best SME award contenders is Grahame Latus, who for 15 years has been CEO of Enterprise Answers. Latus has extensive business strategy experience within a SME, as well as from bigger corporations gained in his previous roles within the Midland and HSBC Bank in Liverpool, London, and Cumbria. Latus is a returning judge from 2018, where he judged the Best New Business category and announced Caterprep as the winners.
